Here and now
We should always think and act only in the present moment, not looking back because our past has gone, it is no longer here. If we feel guilty about having done something inappropriately then we simply have to forgive ourselves even of we are very mad with ourselves, furious. Why do I mention this? Because the majority of people who die and do not leave do so only because they feel guilty about not having done something well, or enough, or not having loved. It's a bit like the Chinese proverb about the tea-cup. Instead of delighting in the taste, the aroma, the warmth of the tea, a person starts thinking about the past and is suddenly astonished to realise that there is no tea any more. The same goes for life. We are always somewhere else - either in the future or in the past. If we concentrated on what is here now, then I think we would stop being so afraid.
